As you walk through the door, you see her, sitting on a cushion of velvet in the gas lighting. Hair piled high with curling tendrils dripping free, waist cinched tight with an expensive corset, opera length gloves covering each dainty hand, she is vivacious, beautiful, mysterious, and alluring. The darling of the Belle Epoque era, she is as beautiful as a painting by Toulouse-Lautrec, and as desirable as the luxurious jewels around her neck. She's not the most chaste of women...but she's the most chased here at the hot spot of Paris, Maxim's.

Gilded Lily at Maxim's was an exclusive colorway designed for my Belle Epoque yarn club in July 2017. I couldn't resist dyeing up a couple small skeins on this luxurious yak silk base to show off the dramatic, rich colors to best effect! Rich patinated gold glows and contrasts with decadent scarlet, inky black, and silvery gray. Handpainted meticulously in short color runs to resist striping and ensure a beautiful, random flow of color, these skeins are the perfect choice for a special project.

Fifty percent yak and fifty percent silk blend into a beautiful, luxurious yarn with lots of drape and a soft, silky hand. Best for elegant accessories that won't see a ton of abrasion (socks are not a great option here), this yarn really adds a special element to your project. Glorious shawls, cozy cowls, and beautiful gloves, stoles, and hats would all benefit from this quality fiber blend. Please use extra care when washing: hand wash ONLY in cold water with a mild detergent and lay flat to dry.

I use professional quality acid dyes to ensure vivid colors that will last. No two skeins are identical: if you need more than one skein for your project, be sure to alternate rows to ensure variegation. Please note that each skein is a unique work of art and may not exactly match the photos, but will be very close. I may reskein your yarn before shipping to avoid tangles if necessary.
